Blythewood, South Carolina
Blythewood is located in the northeast corner of Richland County in South Carolina's Midlands region with Columbia, SC about fifteen miles to the South. Originally known as Doko, which is a Native American word for watering place, in the 1850s, the Charlotte & South Carolina Railroad stopped to pick up water to fuel the steam engines, as well as passengers. The town was renamed Blythewood in 1887, to better describe the community's pleasant groves of pines and oaks.
The addition of the beautiful Lake Carolina and Long Creek Plantation master planned communities, with their clubhouses and a vast array of amenities have generated a growth spurt in real estate for the Blythewood area. Residents have access to wonderful outdoor recreation opportunities, with golf, tennis, equestrian trails and stables, parks, hiking, hunting, fishing, and boating all being easily available. The education system is part of the award winning Richland Two School District. Located just off of I-77 the community has an impressive list of resident industries.
